Employment and Workforce Development Center To provide services to job seekers and businesses on the north/northwest
side of Chicago, the Albany Park Community Center has established an Employment
and Workforce Development Center (or EWD). This center is a local partner
site within Chicago's One-Stop Career Center System. For more information,
point your browser to: The EWD Center provides Core and Intensive Services to job seekers and businesses under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). This project addresses the Albany Park Community Center's longstanding mission statement "to promote high and steady levels of employment." Core services for job seekers Core services for businesses include: orientation to the One-Stop System; position opening registry; opportunities for recruiting qualified employee candidates; information about the labor market, retention strategies, supportive services for employees, unemployment compensation, targeted Work Incentive and other programs. More intensive, individualized services for job seekers and businesses are also available to meet special needs to develop the workforce system in Chicago. (Funded with a WIA grant administered by the Mayor's Office of Workforce
Development (MOWD) and in-kind collaborations within the Albany Park Community
Center's programs.) Other Employment and Workforce Development Services: Job Readiness Classes
are taught for adults who want to prepare themselves for employment success
can study in this class, offered several times a year. Find out your career
interests, and learn the skills and strategies to get and keep the job
you want. (Funded by an Adult Education and Family Literacy grant from
the Illinois State Board of Education) Job Placement -- Adult
residents of Chicago who are looking for a job can receive individual
assistance at the community centers 5121 N. Kimball facility. Employers
looking for qualified applicants are encouraged to list their openings
with our free service. (An Innovative Program for Underserved Populations,
supported with CDBG funds from the Mayor's Office for Workforce Development)
