About APCC

MEMBERSHIP
Last year, APCC served over 3,000 clients through services offered in our ten major programs.  Our agency's client profile for 1998-9 shows that 84 percent of those we serve are non-white minorities: Hispanics top the list with 54% of our clients; 11% are Asians; 12% are Middle Easterners; 7% African-Americans; with 0% Native Americans.  Within a community that is 38% White, only 16% of our clients are White.  This closely mirrors local public elementary school enrollment where between sixty-five and eighty-five percent (average 74%) of children are non-White minorities.  Of interest is the fact that very recent immigrants from European countries (e.g. Bosnia, Romania), most with low levels of English and acculturation, are included in the numbers of White clients.
